Today precisely 22 years, I left my home country South Africa at the age of 17, together with my parents.
Can’t really say that at the time I was happy about the moving, cause at 17, we already have those special friends that we know that they will be there for life. And you know what…it’s true!!
When I arrived here I went to school, worst part was that I had to go back a year, because of the equivalences.
Then the problem was the language, we used to speak little Portuguese at home, so for sometime I struggled a bit…still today I struggle with the pronunciation.
Besides the language it also wasn’t easy for me to make friends. Still today I can’t say I have a hand of friends, I know a lot a lot of people but I can’t consider them all my friends.
Still, after 22 years South Africa is always in my thoughts, different culture, way of seeing life.
